  • Safeguarding Heritage Buildings, Archaeological Sites, Living Traditions and Practices in the Face of Disasters, Climate Risks and Complex Emergencies marks Track 02 of READY – Resilience for Heritage in the Face of Disasters, Climate Risks, and Complex Emergencies, conceived by ICCROM’s flagship programme FAR, in partnership with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe Programme.

    READY Track 2 is an interdisciplinary training that emphasizes a systems-based approach to managing risks to immovable heritage—including historic buildings, archaeological sites, monuments and cultural landscapes—together with the living traditions, practices and knowledge systems that are deeply connected to these places.

    The course consists of four key phases:

    • Phase 1: Online Orientation and Introduction of Key Concepts
    • Phase 2: Two-Week In-Person Workshop on Immoveable and Intangible Cultural Heritage (Location: Bucharest, Romania)
    • Phase 3: Follow-up Field Projects Implemented by Participants. The resources for implementing field projects will be supported by participants’ institutions.
    • Phase 4: International Online Meeting for Dissemination of Field Project Outcomes

  • During READY Track 2, you will actively engage in collaborative, hands-on learning designed to encourage direct skills transfer and ensure the training is practical and relevant. Participants will work in teams to apply tools and methodologies to a case study developed during the course. This case study may focus on historic buildings, archaeological sites, monuments, or cultural landscapes, together with the living traditions, practices, and knowledge systems closely connected to them. This approach helps tailor the training to participants’ specific contexts and enables them to apply the knowledge gained in a meaningful and effective way.

    Post-Training Field Project Proposal

  • Upon completion of Phase 2: In-Person Two-Week Training, participants are required to propose joint or individual projects to be carried out in their respective home countries aimed at enhancing regional, national and local capacities for managing the risk of conflicts, disasters and extreme weather events for heritage sites, buildings and living traditions, practices, as well as knowledge systems. The resources for implementing field projects will be supported by participants’ institutions.
